BH&G Sneak Peek: Six Blue Paint Colors We’re Using in our Innovation Home From Jill Waage

Today's Inspiration comes from Better Homes and Garden's Style Spotters Jill Waage.

I’m so excited to give you this preview of the paint colors in the Better Homes and Gardens Innovation Home! As you can see, we’re all about the blues!

A couple of weeks ago, our Innovation Home designer Lauren Liess shared with you her inspiration for the home’s interiors and how a favorite pillow of hers, below, became the jumping off point for the overall scheme. She talked about how she expanded the range with some purer blues to brighten things up a bit. Isn’t it fun to see how that plays out here so clearly in the paint swatches—from light smokey gray to saturated indigo.

When our editorial team first heard Lauren describe this gorgeous pillow on a kickoff conference call, we swooned over the notion of ethereal sky grays and gradients of inky blue amped with hits of mustard yellow and leafy green. I could already envision the modern-traditional, nature-inspired vibe coming to life in the home.  And as Lauren set to work, riffing off of the blue accent hue that our kitchen designer had chosen, it became all too clear. The house, for me, was all about the blues! Lauren wields and weaves colors through a home in a way that makes rooms feel related, but not matched; surprising yet familiar; decorated while also plop-on-the-sofa comfortable.

Tell us! Where would you ply these blues and grays? Which hue would say Hello, this is me at the front door? Or Welcome to my culinary realm on kitchen cabinetry? Or, This is me on bedroom walls? When the story debuts in the October 2015 issue of Better Homes and Gardens magazine, you’ll see where we plied this palette. Plus, you can watch our videos with Lauren, chock full of her decorating wisdom right here on bhg.com. I was lurking in the background for the interview, below, so trust me. Her words and advice are golden.
