Materials: LACK side table

Description: A few month ago I encountered this hack made with lack tables used as a scenographic diplay in a an exibition. This took place at the Maison de l’architecture et de la Ville, a kind of cultural center about urban developments in the city of Lille (France).

I enjoyed this use of the tables. Have you encountered other uses of IKEA material to make display cases in museums or exhibitions?

Ikea Stockholm Chandelier Hack By: Caissie St.Onge

stockholm hack

Materials: Stockholm chandelier

Description: After pricing vintage Sputnik-type chandeliers, as well as new ones at DWR or Jonathan Adler, we decided we could not tap our retirement funds to splurge on one. We kind of liked the idea of the new Ikea Stockholm chandelier, but our hearts still yearned for that Russian space-satellite vibe. So, we purchased the Stockholm and performed a simple hack on it – we put the acrylic spokes in randomly rather than in the manner prescribed by the directions. Magic. We love it. (Including a pic of the original Stockholm (below), as well as our faux-Sputnikified version.)

Halloween Entryway Decor From House of Smiths

Today's Inspiration comes from guest blogger House of Smiths Be sure to check out their blog!
Sorry for the delay in posting, I know I promised some more Halloween decor reveals yesterday, but well, things just got busy...

Have I ever mentioned how Fall and Spring are my all-time favorite seasons of the year? Yeah... sitting in front of a computer sometimes gets in the way of me enjoying that with my crew.

Speaking of "my people", I got busted recording this little bird yesterday, singing her heart out. Just in case you didn't catch it on our Instagram feed... see below

Man I love that girl. She's been so patient with me and Cason as we've moved from one area of the house to another, finishing up projects and trying to get everything ready for the holidays. She even helped me shoot a few of these pictures, to show all of you our Halloween entryway decorations! I use a tripod and clicker, so it wasn't too technical, but she still loved pushing the button :)

Expedit into console table By: R Chang

Capture

Materials: Expedit

Description: We were redoing our playroom area, and my wife has a semi-pro hair station set up using some recycled furniture. The overall aim is to install some Besta cabinets up above, to get the storage up off the ground (and away from little fingers). However, we had a console table that was sitting in front of the mirror that was simply too large for the space.

Time to IKEAHACK!

I took an older Expedit 2×4 and removed one lower side (the side with the 4 long bolts).

Then I removed the lower smaller divider and cut the dowel pins in half, and then slid (hammered) them back in so that the long divider was still connected to the remaining upper divider.

I used some L-shaped decorative chair braces to provide additional support to the long divider.

I installed the Expedit drawer unit (in black) with some FĂ…GLEBODA handles instead of the included “nubby” ones.

Applying the adhesive pads to bottom of the unit allows it to slide on the floor without scratching.

I will probably apply some proper “feet” to it later to bring it up to a better height (maybe 2″ higher) but for now it’s pretty good. Wife likes it so that’s the main thing!

PAX + BILLY double ideas… By: Mazinga

01

Materials: PAX, BILLY

Description: Probably someone doesn’t know that…

You can mix PAX and BILLY and you can mix also 2 different Billy doors (glass and wood).

In fact, I placed a MOREBO (401.040.91) (glass-aluminium) door above and a OLSBO (901.813.60) (wood) below on the same Billy shelf (400.857.09), in fact they are tall 96 + 98 cm.

The only important thing is to put the glass door above and the wood below because with MOREBO you can move the hinge where you want.

04

What else? Well, probably someone doesn’t know that…

The DEPTH of Billy and PAX corner are not soo much different (28 -> 35cm);

and the HEIGHT is the same if you put a Billy height extension unit (701.973.95) on the Billy shelf (400.857.09) (237 (overall) -> 236cm).. also if they really are THE SAME HEIGHT as you can see in the photo; i didn’t modify anything to have the same height!

03

Have your own mixed composition !!!
