Materials:
KALLAX Shelving unit
KALLAX Insert with door
KALLAX Insert with 2 drawers
I had an upright Kallax that I didn’t know where to put. I decided to transform it into a retro-looking sideboard. I have been inspired by the many Kallax/Expedit hacks on ikeahackers as well as by the 50s furniture.
I covered the top, sides and some inner walls with 3mm thick plywood, that I varnished in satin teak. This allows to hide the (plastic and metal) screws of the Kallax.
I added 4 individual hairpin legs. They are 30cm tall (12 inches) and painted black. I added two white Kallax inserts, where I replace the knobs by wooden knobs, varnished in the same way as the plywood.
I am very happy of this quite simple but good looking hack. I know have a unique piece of furniture !
