Material: Hemnes shoe cabinet 601.561.21
We expanded our bathroom by stealing space from our foyer coat closet. What is pictured is the place where the foyer closet used to be. You can see the trim outlining the old closet. We had just enough depth for a Hemnes shoe cabinet so we could store shoes by the door.
The top of the Hemnes was removed and replaced with a curved shelf made of paint-grade wood.
The legs were trimmed a bit.
Wood panels were used to fill in the sides and bottom around the edges, since the old closet opening (about 48″) was larger than the Hemnes (about 42″).
The pulls were replaced with vintage pulls purchased on ebay.
Quarter-round molding was used where the piece meets the floor.
The entire piece was sanded and painted to match the walls.
