Happy 4th of July everyone! The East Coast seems to be under a constant blanket of rain right now, but hopefully everyone else will be able to enjoy some fireworks and lots of summer fun for the holiday weekend. Our team is taking the day off, but I wanted to end the weekend by sharing some beautiful #dssummer themed desktop wallpapers that artist Maria Schoettler created for all of us! Maria is based in Oakland, California where she focuses on documenting and celebrating the beauty of food and plants. She became so enamored of her neighborhood farmer’s market and the colors of her weekly market trips, that she decided to create her own guide of what to look for at the market each season, which turned into a beautiful “Eat Local” series. In addition to a Eat Local Calendar, Maria also produced a line of note cards, bread bags and prints inspired by the bounty of her local market. Today she’s sharing two summer-inspired produce illustrations that represent the rich colors and natural beauty of the farmer’s market. Each of Maria’s illustrations, berries and watermelons, are available to download here on DS today! So if you need a little summer pick-me-up or just a reminder to eat more fresh local fruit, I hope you’ll enjoy them and the desktop (and phone!) refresher as much as we are. Thank you so much to Maria for creating these for us and I hope you’ll check out her website for more beautiful seasonal illustrations. Until Monday, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! xo, grace
