Materials: MALM chest of drawers

We had a lot of old oak malm furniture from our first house and when I became pregnant with my daughter I figured I’d have a go at doing something interesting with it.

First of all I painted it white. I then printed the alphabet in a variety of sizes and fonts and cut out the letters, sticking them on to drawers with blue tack until I was happy with the finish. I then cut the letters out of MDF with a jigsaw (yes, picture me 6 months pregnant, masked up using a jigsaw!). Letters were sanded and painted white, then stuck on with wood glue.

To finish it off I cut a piece of Cath Kidston fabric the size of the top and used the malm glass panel to put on top to fix in place.
