A few weeks ago I have built a floating book wall for my modest library. But since I also have a few smaller books which were not practical for the book wall, I immediately continued with the next shelf project and built a new home for my mini-books. For this shelf I used an Ivar shelf board and an old leather belt.

Recycle your old Leksvik dresser and make some new under bed drawers for your bedroom.
1. First, I pulled out the two large drawers of my dresser and measured whether these would fit under my bed. Unfortunately, the larger one of the two was too high, so I had to unpack my circular saw. First I sawed off about 2,4 inches from the top of the drawer…
2. … and then I glued this part of the bigger drawer on top of the second drawer. I did this to adjust the height of the smaller drawer so that both of them would look the same height. Then I unscrewed the handles on the drawers and painted both drawers white.
3. Now I only had to paint the handles light gray and screw them back on. At last I glued felt to the bottom of the drawers so that I can pull them out without scratching my floor and then I was finally able to fill my new my bed drawers! Yay!

Materials: LEKSVIK coat rack
For my new coat rack I disassembled two LEKSVIK coat racks from IKEA to use the hooks. First, I sanded my six boards lightly. Just so much that you won’t get a splinter and then I glued the boards with epoxy together and tightened the fittings for reinforcement at the ends of the boards. For the paint I used a light gray tone. Once I applied the paint with a brush on the wood, I immediately wiped much of the color down with a cloth, so that the original color of the wood is still visible.

Materials: LEKSVIK chest of drawers
It was time to give my LEKSVIK drawer a makeover. For this look I used a whitewash-style paint and for the pulls I cut an old leather belt into stripes.
1. Remove the original handles and sand the chest. As always, first with a coarse grit and later with a finer one.
2. Level out the old handle holes with wood paste. Sand the paste down.
3. Drill holes for new handles.
4. I cut an old buckskin belt into equal strips and drilled small holes at BOTH ENDS of every strip.
5. I diluted the acrylic paint in a 50/50 ratio with water. I applied the paint to the wood with a scrubbing brush and then wiped a part of the paint off again in order to keep the coat of paint thin.
6. Let it dry.
7. Install the leather handles with screws (and nuts)

Materials: RIBBA frame
I made this Memory box for ticket stubs for my favorite teen in the world. As a passionate hunter and gatherer, I first tried for months to get hold of a second-hand shadowbox but no chance! So I gave up and bought a RIBBA picture frame at IKEA, which is actually a shadow box and just acts as if it were a picture frame. Since the photo frame still needed an opening through which one can insert the tickets, I unpacked my saw.
Ribba consists of an outer frame and an inner frame, and in the upper side of both you have to saw an equally large opening. From this step, I’ll spare you the photos, because I didn’t manage this part really gracefully. Since I do not really have the right saw to saw out something, I had to improvise.
First I sketched the opening out with a pencil and then sawed carefully down one long side with my Japanese saw, at a slight angle, until I completely sewed trough the wood at one point. Then I was able to saw out the rest the usual way. The inner frame was easier because there you can saw directly into two sides.
All I had to do now was to once again paint the new wood openings white and print an image for the background. For my teenager I chose a scaled poster of her first music festival.
