We wanted a nice shelf-solution for our kitchen which spreads out into the living room. So we easily took two LACK-shelves and fit them diagonally and linked them with wood glue.
Help! I have several IKEA Klappsta Chairs and need to make covers for each one. Can someone please provide measurements of a Klappsta Chair Cover?
This summer I’ve been teaching my own version of summer school classes at Makeshift Society in Brooklyn and San Francisco. The topic I felt most passionate to discuss first was SOCIAL MEDIA and in every class I found myself more and more excited to get into the nitty gritty details of what it means to craft a successful- and authentic- social media presence for any brand, company or personality.
For better or worse, social media has become the primary way most people find and consume information. Whether they’re getting updates on political situations or looking at more light-hearted updates related to the cultural news that interests them, people are no longer reading online home pages the way they used to. Rather than bemoaning the loss of that more centralized method of communication, the homepage, I think our time is better spend understanding and embracing those changes and learning how to make them work for us, both personally and professionally.
So this week I turned my radio show into a one-stop-shop podcast that will help anyone listening get started with expressing themselves- and their work- through social media. If you’ve got 15 minutes, you’ve got all the time you need to learn all the basics of social media. My brain seems to be fundamentally incapable of staying committed to the simple, but important, task of staying hydrated. I’ve tried setting myself a “drink water” timer, making drinking a game with the FitBit app and even tricking myself into drinking more water by flavoring it with everything from cucumbers to fresh blackberries. While the latter has been my most successful attempt, the bottom line is that I’m better at staying on target when I always have a bottle of water by my side. But rather than contribute to the daily waste of disposable plastic bottles, I’ve been looking for a single (cute) bottle I can use to tote around with me all day. One of my favorites right now is S’well‘s series of wood-inspired bottles. The colors are fun, the bottle keeps drinks cold for 24 hours (and hot for 12 hours) without condensation and the whole thing is BPA free and non-toxic. One big bonus for me is that the top is wide enough to fit ice cubes for extra cool temps and little bits of flavor (I like making mint and citrus ice cubes). I was curious to hear more about the design process behind this series, so I asked S’Well founder Sarah Kauss to share the back story. I loved finding out that each bottle is hand-painted and knowing that it took a while to get just the right style makes me appreciate the final product even more. I always love going through hashtag challenge entries at the end of every month, but I didn’t expect to be so moved by the most recent theme: summer. After sorting through the 4,872 entries that were submitted last month, I was overwhelmed with that very specific sense of nostalgia and melancholy that comes with acknowledging the end of summer. With September only a few weeks away, looking through hundreds of pages of pictures of peaches, crashing waves, ice cream, toes in pools and backyard barbecues with friends was both the best and somewhat saddest way to mark the passage of time. While I will always enjoy feeling crisp breezes usher in fall, I will definitely miss the slow, sunny days of summer. Thank you to everyone who submitted such beautiful photos for this challenge, you captured the best moments of summer and we truly enjoyed getting to see what summer means to all of you. xo, grace
