NUMERÄR double hack By: Jules Yap
Materials: NUMERÄR countertop + natural cork legs
Description: A few months ago, we decided that we needed a new fresh look in our kitchen. After some research, choosing Ikea seemed the best option. Our biggest doubt and concern were the countertops: stone is durable and moist resistant, but also more expensive and heavy. So, we chose NUMERÄR countertops.
We have a pretty big kitchen for an apartment, and we basically wanted to keep the same disposition of the furniture. The problem is that, sooner or later, you will find a corner where you can't fit any of the standard size Ikea kitchen cabinets. That's exactly what happened on the corner near the stove. The solution for us was to use the surplus of the NUMERÄR countertop: with a saw, some screws and a couple of Faktum feet, we made an open cabinet that fits perfectly with all the rest.
Rationality was in mind for our kitchen island too: with a surplus of a NUMERÄR countertop and some custom made natural cork legs, we made an elevated deck for our island. This helps to keep small things more reachable, and also hides the electric wires for the coffee machine, electric jar, etc.
We chose cork legs instead of some other material because of the natural look. And it matches the placemats and the dish washing machine, in case you didn't notice.
Hope you like it!

Hacker help: How to maximize space in this room? By: Jules Yap
Materials: ??
Description: Hi all, as you can see I'm an Ikea buyer from the study tables to the shelves. However, these items are pretty worn out and I need new ones. At the same time, my room is so tiny yet it has to fit my sister and my beds and study tables. I'm very stressed out and confined to designs such as a bunk bed, because of the ceiling fan and the large wardrobe that cannot be removed by rule of my parents. My sister and I have a desire for L shaped desks like the micke corner workstation. I'm considering hacking the loft bed for us to put our many bags. Also, we want to have at least a bench or some sort by the window so we can chill. And the current bed layout makes it difficult for me to open my wardrobe.
Please help I'm desperate to tears.
I'm starting school in a week and got to get his done by then.

Flexible Pine book shelf By: Jules Yap
Materials: 7 black Lack shelves (26x30 cm), 8 pine shelves Ekby Tryggve, white pained steel legs from building market, carpet tape
Description: 1. Unpack all pieces.
2. Fasten support like legs or whatever you choose on the Ekby Tryggve shelf to be the lowest.
3. Use Lack shelves put on the edge as stands. The height of the shelf can be either 26 or 30 cm.
4. Move them around, put Ekby Tryggve on them as you build, and find a combination you like.
I have put the Lack shelves straight but they can be turned in many ways. I have also put the black Lack flush with the front edge of Ekby Tryggve and the white Lack flush with the back edge of Ekby Tryggve as can be seen on the pictures.
5. While you try to find out how you want the Lack pieces to be distributed, the shelf is fairly stable. When settled one can use screws to fasten the pieces or glue them. I have used carpet tape to avoid screws.
This shelf can be expanded whenever you wish (as long as IKEA have the Lack and Ekby Tryggve of course) both upwards and sidewards.
